The Security Officer is responsible for upholding Mercy values in maintaining a safe and secure environment for all residents, visitors, and staff and for protecting community property.
The Security Officer is also responsible for verifying the scheduled presence of all employees, and third party contractors on the grounds.
Responsibilities:
Serves as an Ambassador for upholding the Mercy values of Hospitality, Justice, Dignity, Stewardship, Prayer, and Excellence.
Makes scheduled rounds both inside and outside the buildings to help maintain a safe and secure environment for residents and their property as well as company property.
Enforces Mercy Ridge policies, procedures, and regulations.
Responds to all fire alarms and apartment emergency calls.
Develops and maintains a good working rapport with residents, family members, visitors, vendors and co-workers, to assure safety & security procedures meet the needs of the facility.
Assists with special security needs as they arise involving employees, visitors, and other members of the community.
Provides detailed written reports of all incidents that occur during the shift and shares with community leadership.
Maintains entrances in facility for safe passage at all times.
Accomplishes all work in the order of priority set by supervisor.
Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
Partners with Concierge to complete daily up and about checks.
Performs service related tasks as assigned to ensure the safety and security of residents and staff.
Maintains all tools, equipment and supplies in proper condition.
Reports all incidents/accidents immediately.
Reports all unsafe/hazardous conditions equipment immediately, trained and knowledgeable in equipment lockout/tag out procedures.
Assures that established safety regulations are followed at all times.
Recognizes unsafe conditions and takes action or reports conditions to supervisor.
Utilizes proper use of body mechanics and personal protective equipment (PPE) and devices.
Uses equipment, services and supplies in a cost-effective manner.
Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned.
Must be knowledgeable of legal requirements while conducting investigations and interviewing witnesses and suspects.
Provides coverage for the front desk for staff breaks when needed.
Assists with elevator malfunctions and entrapments, escorts emergency services to the location when needed.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED One year experience in security preferred.
Must have a valid Maryland Driver's License, or a valid driver's license from a neighboring state jurisdiction (PA, DC), if this is their permanent primary residence.
Note:
Employee is not permitted to have a suspended or revoked Maryland License on file even if their home state license for their primary residence is valid, i.
e.
valid in Pennsylvania while revoked in Maryland.
First Aid and CPR Certification Special Police Commission preferred but not required Training by the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS,) when offered by Mercy Medical Center, is preferred but not required EEO Statement:

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
